Wholefoods Exchange
- Anna walks into the 23rd St. Wholefoods, looking for general produce. Notices that conventional artichokes are on sale. As she picks one up, an older Hispanic lady approaches.
- Older Hispanic Lady: Do you speak Spanish?
- Anna: Oh, no, sorry. (Continues looking at artichokes.)
- Older Hispanic Lady: (Thinks a bit.) I make this for tea. I make....tea? To drink. It's good for (gestures to belly).
- Anna: Digestion?
- Older Hispanic Lady: (Nods).
- Anna: I, bake, stuff and bake. (Gestures trimming leaves, stuffing) With bread...
- Older Hispanic Lady: You eat this?
- Anna: (Nods.)
- Older Hispanic Lady: I make tea.
- Anna: Right, I eat (gestures to heart and lower leaves, not tips).
- Older Hispanic Lady: (Nods.)
- Anna: Well, thank you.
- Older Hispanic Lady: (Nods.)
- Anna: I'm sorry I don't speak Spanish!
- Older Hispanic Lady: Well, I'm sorry I no speak English.
- BOTH: (LAUGHTER. Smiles. Goodbye waves.)
